It's finished just in time for my March exhibit! The goal of this painting is to capture the feeling of having to continue with everyday mundane activities in a time when you feel permanently altered by an event such as the death of a family or friend. For me, the lines represent anxiety, shock, and fuzziness within that moment. Laundry Day - Work In Progress
Work in progress! I'm having so much fun doing this piece. It's the biggest canvas I've ever worked on (4 x 5 feet)... actually, we could barely fit it in the car to bring it home! I'm loving the lines more are more as I do them. I like it because it forces me to take my time (20 hours in and it's definitely working). Every line is so important. 'Laundry Day' Preliminary Sketch
Today I finished this preliminary sketch of a self-portrait I will be painting calling Laundry Day. It will be completed on a fairly large canvas, and so I want to be well prepared before beginning the final piece. I am happy with the composition, as well as the colours for the most part. Though the colours will mostly like be toned down quite a bit to reduce the somewhat cartoon-y effect. The background, on the otherhand, always gives me the most trouble. More often than not
