
Finally Finished a Series
I can't remember the last time I completed a series. It feels good! I like this particular skull series because it really flows. From left to right, time is shown through morning, mid-day, and night. The skulls themselves are facing different ways, but in a way that makes it work. The red flowers form an interesting shape when the canvases are next to one another. Inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe
This is a progress picture of me with a painting I worked on a couple days ago called 'Ram Skull With Roses'. The idea is inspired by the work of Georgia O'Keeffe, who happens to be one of my favourite artists. I love the dynamic between life and death, what is eternal and what is not, as well as the idea of finding beauty within both things. Also, I'm still loving the black ;)

It's like I just discovered black
I won't mention any names, but an artistic authority figure once told me to never use black when painting. Well, I've always kept that in mind when doing pieces (although I deviated once in a while... but just a little). UNTIL NOW.
